Principal Benjamin Tripp announced that the summer reading program at Owls Head Central School was a great success.

"Out of 91 students, we had 48 students participate in the Read to Ride Challenge," Tripp said.

One student read for more than 5,000 minutes and another for more than 4,000, while 24 read at least 1,000 minutes, nine read at least 750 minutes, 11 read at least 500, and four read fewer than 500.

All in all, the school combined for 63,934 minutes of reading over the summer — or 1,065 hours.

"Pretty impressive stuff," Tripp said.
