FairPoint Communications  has completed broadband upgrade projects in Friendship and Waldoboro. As a result of these projects, faster broadband speeds are available to approximately 75 locations in these communities – some addresses for the first time.

“Internet access has transformed the way we live, and that is even more evident in rural states like Maine,” said Mike Reed, FairPoint’s Maine state president.

In Friendship, portions of Colonel Stairs Road, Finntown Road and Hendrickson Lane have been upgraded. Those on portions of Finntown Road and Levensaler Lane now qualify for faster broadband speeds in Waldoboro.

Since April 2008, FairPoint has invested more than $900 million in its communications infrastructure and technology to bring broadband to northern New England, including building thousands of miles of new fiber-optic network across the region.
