Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital, both part of the MaineHealth system, offer Self Care Through Art sessions in November. The Journey To Health options will take place in Searsmont and Union.

Creating art can lower blood pressure, stress levels and anxiety while quieting the mind and helping one discover one’s inner artist. Participants will experiment with pastels, watercolors, acrylics, collage and more as they start their journeys into a new perspective of self-care. A willingness to play with and explore the materials is all that is required.

Self Care Through Art will be offered Wednesdays, Nov. 2 through 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Searsmont United Methodist Church on Route 131; and Mondays, Nov. 7 through 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the People’s United Methodist Church, 31 Depot Street, Union.

Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. The registration fee is $50. To register, visit or call 921-3950.
