The Friends of Music Concert Series, an outreach program of the First Congregational Church of Camden, will present an afternoon of classical chamber music Sunday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church, 55 Elm St/Route 1.

Matthew Mainster, director of music at First Congregational Church, will play piano; and he will be joined by cellist April Reed-Cox and violinist Meg Thomas. They will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s eighth violin sonata and Bedrich Smetana’s piano trio.

Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8 in G major, Op. 30 No. 3 is described as his most cheerful violin sonata, while Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor is a turbulent and triumphant piano trio.

As always, the Friends of Music concert is free and open to the public, although donations to sustain the program will be cheerfully accepted at the door. For more information, call the church at 236-4821.
