More than 200 items are up for bid in the sixth annual Trekkers fundraising auction, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Route 73. A listing of the auction items may be perused online at

There are items for silent, as well as live auction. They include paintings, prints, photography (including a South African photo safari), pottery, jewelry, textiles and a membership to the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. Absentee bids are available online for nine items including lead sponsor Fisher Engineering’s Fisher XV2 V-plow; there is a wide range of items, services, gift certificates and travel options.

The Oct. 22 auction preview will run from 6 to 7 p.m., and the silent auction will start at 6 pm. The live auction bidding, with auctioneer Bruce Gamage, begins at 7 p.m. A $10 admission at the door includes hors d’oeuvres & sweets.

All proceeds benefit Trekkers, an outdoor-based mentoring nonprofit organization based in Thomaston that connects young people with caring adults through the use of expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education.
