The Visual and Performing Arts Department would like to congratulate Rebekah Schade on being named Student of the Month for October.

Schade, a senior, has been involved in theater and music at Camden Hills every year. And before high school, participated in a myriad of community theater productions. A member of Chorale, Women’s Choir, and Chamber Singers, Schade has been accepted to both MMEA District and All State Music festivals. She is a strong ensemble member and brings a collaborative spirit to every classroom project.

On stage, she has participated in four years of Musicals and Winter One-Acts. In the spring, she takes a hiatus from the dark corners of theater life and runs track with the CHRHS team.

Whether in an ensemble role, lead, or student-directing a show, Schade has been involved in all aspects of theater at CHRHS and within the surrounding community. She has been a student intern for local summer theater camps, has won awards for her acting at regional and state level drama festivals, and has done voice recording and film work with area groups.

Audience members may well remember her sophomore year performance as one of the ugly step-sisters in the CHRHS production of Cinderella. This year, she will be playing the lead role of Deloris in the current production of Sister Act. Schade is currently enjoying many hours of rehearsal to develop the character of Deloris, a night club singer who witnesses a murder, and then has to hide out in a convent.

In college, she plans on being involved with journalism, education, English and theater. Her words of encouragement to students considering the arts: "Just do it. No matter if you are shy, awkward, or think you'll be bad at it. If you want to do it, don't let anything hold you back. If you work hard enough and it's what you love, everything will fall into place for you."
