Tyler Jones of Appleton has joined the United Mid-Coast Charities board of directors.

Jones is marketing manager at Fisher Engineering in Rockland. The company is the leading participant in UMCC's leading payroll deduction program, through which employees can give to charity, in any amount, directly from their paychecks. Employees’ contributions are matched dollar for dollar by the company and allocated to UMCC.

Jones has participated in the program since 2008.

"Fisher’s employees understand and appreciate the importance of healthy communities," said Jones, a Rockport native and a graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School. "Contributing to UMCC helps ensure that we are supporting some of the leading nonprofits in the Midcoast."

Jones completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine at Fort Kent before joining Fisher Engineering eight years ago. The company has a long history of contributing to local causes, and Jones joined its donation committee five years ago.

“I was very interested in figuring out how we could use our resources in the most positive way — to make the best use of what we have,” said Jones. “I got to know about UMCC through my work on the donations committee, and I see joining UMCC’s board as a way to broaden my horizons and learn even more about local philanthropy.”
