Hello from Hope

The construction workers have dressed up the roads in the area for winter, a nice black sweater that over the coming months will fray and get moth eaten by our busy coming and goings through the town. Our cars will get beaten up by the salty tears of old man winter, the roads will end up not heart broken but cracked and broken none the less…

Class lunches

The Class of 1960 will meet Friday, Oct. 14, at noon, at The Helm for their monthly luncheon.

The Class of !958 will meet Thursday, Oct. 13, at noon at The Helm. Please note this is a week earlier than their regular meeting date.

The Mid-Coast Ladies Club will meet Tuesday, Oct. 11, at noon at The Off Shore Restaurant. Anyone is welcome to join us at any time.

Sno-Riders Meeting

The Hatchet Mountain Sno-Riders Snowmobile Club will meet on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. for a potluck supper at the Hope Corner Fire Station.

School news

At Hope Elementary School:

There is a PTO meeting on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m.

There is a HES committee meeting Monday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m.

At Sweetland School:

Creative Club meets once a month on Thursday afternoons, beginning Oct. 27, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Fall fest

The Hope Orchard Fall Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Town committee members needed

The Town of Hope has four vacancies on its Budget Committee. This committee meets approximately eight times between January and March each year. It reviews the town and school budgets and makes recommendations to voters. Residents interested in serving on this committee should contact the town office, 763-4199.

There are three vacancies on the Board of Appeals/Board of Assessment Review. This committee meets as seldom as once per year. It meets more often if there are any appeals cases. For more information, contact the town office.

At the Hope Historical Society

It will be open to the public each Friday in October. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Oct. 7, there will be homemade pies for sale.
