MVHS hosting college visits Oct. 11

WALDOBORO — Medomak Valley High School will host college visits Tuesday, Oct. 11, with Southern Maine Community College at 8 a.m.; New England School of Communication at 9 a.m.; and University of Maine Machias at 10:30 a.m. Students who wish to attend should sign up in the guidance office.

MCST holds career and college fair Oct. 13

ROCKLAND — Mid-Coast School of Technology will hold a career and college fair Oct. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

MCST Adult Ed offers machining course starting Oct. 17

ROCKLAND — Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Ed is offering an eight-week machining course for beginning students. Ben Scott instructs on shop safety, determining speeds and feeds, proper use of dial calipers and micrometers, theory and hands-on operation of basic machines found in a machine shop (lathe, milling machines and drill presses). Focus will be on basic setup and operation of a milling machine and lathe. Course meets Monday evenings from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 17. Toy fund offers holiday help to those in need

WALDOBORO — The Bruce Roberts Toy Fund is a nonprofit organization that gives extra help to those in need during the holiday season. It is now accepting applications, which are available at the Miller School office. All applications must be mailed to The Portland Press Herald by Wednesday, Nov. 9.
