The Thomaston Historical Society invites the public to join Capt. Annie Mahle Oct. 11 beginning at 7 p.m. at its museum, 80 Knox St., for an evening "at sea," as Mahle shares the joys and adventures of her 18 years of living aboard a schooner.

Mahle is a sea captain, chef, writer and steward of the windjammer J. & E. Riggin of Rockland, a National Historic Landmark. The Riggin is owned by Mahle and her husband, Capt. Jon Finger. Her duties and talents also include being captain of her galley, where she cooks meals for guests, crew and family on a cast iron wood stove.

Refreshments will be served before the talk at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for the program, but donations are greatly appreciated.
