63 Washington Street Home for Seniors, a residential care facility, is now licensed to provide respite care, or short-term residential services, to families that are caregivers for a relative who needs assistance or supervision.

Respite care has proven to be beneficial for caregivers to take a much-needed break and know that their loved one is receiving quality care. An assessment will be done to determine if a loved one fits the licensing criteria for assistance and then admit them for a short stay. Caregivers sometimes forget that they need to take care of themselves as well as their loved one in order to continue to care for them.

In addition to Respite care, Sixty Three is licensed to provide daily senior care services for four to six hours per day for a limited number of individuals. The expectation is to be able to provide this valuable service by early November. One may sign up for one or several days/week for a minimum of four hours per day. Lunch will be served and snacks provided as needed. Participants will be assessed to determine their needs and interests with a Plan of Care developed to meet individual needs. Staff is committed to providing a gradual adjustment period so that participants are comfortable with a new environment and change in their schedule.

Sixty Three offers a warm home-like atmosphere with home cooked meals. Assistance with medications, bathing and transportation is offered to those who are residents. Newly redecorated activity rooms offer quiet space for reading or areas to do puzzles or other activities.
