Vose Library’s popular Soup and Suspense mystery author program returns Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 392 Common Road! The guest author this year is Chris Holm, Portland author of the Michael Hendricks mystery series.

Holm will read from and talk about the latest book in the series, “Red Right Hand,” which came out in September, and answer questions from the audience. The Michael Hendricks novels (two so far, “The Killing Kind” and “Red Right Hand”) tell the story of a man who makes his living hitting hitmen … only to wind up a target himself.

Holm has written a mystery/fantasy crossover series, The Collector Trilogy, about Sam Thornton, a collector of souls. These novels recast the battle between heaven and hell as old-fashioned crime pulp. He also writes short stories, many of which have been nominated for and/or won awards.

As always, attendees also get to sample delicious soups made by the library’s dedicated volunteers, and there will be door prizes. Admission to Soup and Suspense is an $8 suggested donation.
