Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents a weekly Friday Night Film Series with screenings 6:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1. Parking and handicap access is in the rear of the building, off Gleason Street.

September’s lineup features Italian films and concludes Sept. 30 with “Divorce Italian Style” (1961, Italy). A married Sicilian baron (the wonderful Marcello Mastroianni) falls in love with his cousin (Stefania Sandrelli) and vows to wed her; with divorce illegal, he must concoct a crime of passion to do away with his wife (Daniela Rocca). He hatches a plan to lure her into the arms of another man (Leopoldo Trieste) and then murder her to save his honor in this comedy classic directed by Pietro Germi.

The nonrated film runs 105 minutes. Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
