Camden Farmers Market is celebrating the arrival of the fall harvest season with a Taste of the Market event, Saturday Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at its location between Knowlton and Washington streets.

The event includes sampling of prepared dishes, recipe sharing and activities for children, organized by Common Wealth Farm LLC.

This year's Taste of the Market table will be packed with flavors of the season. Many members will be providing recipes at their booths. Here's a sampling: Cherry Tomato Salad combining 16 varieties including Tigers, Bumblebees, Golds mixed with a tangy sauce courtesy of Hubbard Brook Farm, Wood Fired Apple Pizza from Uproot Pie Co., Common Wealth Farm's Carolina-style Barbecued Wings, Andrea's Chocolate Kale Cookies from Brae Maple Farm, Guini Ridge Farm Merguez Sausage with a yogurt sauce, and from Imagine Dairy and Fuzzy Udder Creameries, Frittata and Caprese Salad.

Fall farmers markets offer the widest variety of product of the entire year, with winter storage vegetables and cool weather crops joining summer's bounty. Saturday market runs 9 a.m. to noon from mid-May through late November. The last Wednesday market is Sept. 28.
