Dave Emery, Republican candidate for Maine State Senate District 12, has received the highest rating of A+ and the endorsement of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.

The nonpartisan Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine is the state’s largest sportsman’s organization, with 10,000 members. SAM took a number of factors into consideration in its rating and endorsement, such as the candidates’ stance on issues such as trapping, controlling the deer population, use of public lands and other hunting-related issues.

“Dave Emery’s responses to SAM’s candidate survey make clear that he will represent Maine’s sportsmen well in the Legislature,” said David Trahan, SAM’s executive director. “Having known Dave for many years, I know he holds the same outdoor interests and Maine values as SAM’s members.”

“I am pleased to have received SAM’s endorsement,” Emery said. “As a lifelong hunter and fisherman, SAM has acknowledged my love for Maine’s outdoor heritage. I think it is important that the people of Knox County know where the candidates stand on hunting and fishing issues, and SAM’s endorsement informs them of that.”

Emery is running against incumbent Dave Miramant, a Camden Democrat. District 12 includes all of Knox County except Washington.
