The downtown Art Loft will host another Pizza & Painters event Thursday, Sept. 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Chuck Paine, a popular instructor at the nonprofit art center, will demonstrate his oil painting process.

Paine seeks out those images that make life on the coast of Maine different from the cities. He said he has no wish to be thought of as a “modern” artist; rather, his goal is to paint in the “old ways.”

“I choose to do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard — and so rare today as to have practically vanished,” he said.

A finished painting will be raffled at the end of the evening. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $15.

The Art Loft is located on the lobby level of the Thorndike Building, 385 Main St. (Suite 9). For more information, visit artloftrockland.org.
