“The Muppet Movie” (1979, UK/USA), will be screened as Part One of the Family Flashback Film Festival at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. Doors will open noon Sunday, Sept. 25, for the 12:30 p.m. show. Admission is $3.

The first theatrical film featuring the Muppets, “The Muppet Movie” is a musical road comedy-adventure for all ages. In the story, Kermit the Frog is persuaded by his agent (Dom DeLuise) to pursue a career in Hollywood. Along the way, Kermit picks up Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and a motley crew of other Muppets with similar aspirations. Meanwhile, Kermit must elude the grasp of a frog-leg restaurant magnate.

In addition to Muppeteers Jim Henson and Frank Oz, the G-rated film features cameo appearances by Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Milton Berle, Richard Pryor, Elliot Gould, Madeline Kahn, Bob Hope and more. It is directed by James Frawley.
