Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, will hold a town hall meeting to discuss the benefits of solar power Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Rockland City Hall.

“The benefits of solar energy are environmental as well as economic,” said Miramant in a news release. “I am passionate about creating jobs, saving Mainers money and finding renewable sources of energy to replace fossil fuels. Increased use of solar power can accomplish all three.”

Miramant will be joined by representatives from ReVision Energy, a local installer of solar energy systems for homes, businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities. The meeting will include a presentation on the basics of solar energy, a talk by Miramant on the prospects of new legislation related to increasing solar energy in Maine, and a question and answer period. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to participate.

“Now is the time to talk about how to broaden our energy portfolio in Maine. Solar can play a vital role in Maine’s energy future, and I hope we have a full house in Rockland ready to exchange ideas,” Miramant said.
