More than 20 years ago Dorothy Koski of Lincolnville agreed to serve as the church organist at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St., Camden. She is now retiring and on Sunday, Sept. 11 the pastor, Peg Moser, will lead a music-filled worship service to honor her.

The doors are open to all who may wish to be present for this special event. There will be an opportunity during the service for congregants to pay tribute to her. The worship service begins at 10:30 a.m., followed at 11:45 a.m. by the fellowship time at which there will be an opportunity to greet the honoree.

Over the years Koski did more than accompany hymns and anthems. She became an integral part of the church family, accompanied instrumental and vocal soloists, planned choir festivals and hosted the annual Christmas Concert held following the church’s monthly public supper in December, with the free will offering benefiting the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry. Yearly organ/piano concerts featuring Koski and BJ Marsh have been a very popular public event at the church. In recent years she was the choir director at the church, inspiring outstanding sacred music from the choir members. Koski was appreciated as a popular accompanist and musical artist at a wide variety of functions. She will be greatly missed as she moves on.
