The Waldo Theatre Board of Directors is holding an ice cream Sundae Social Sunday, Sept. 18, to meet with the public, discuss what's going on with the theater and outline volunteer opportunities.

The event will be held at the Soule-Shuman VFW Hall, 40 Mill St., from 2 to 4 p.m. The social is free, but donations will be accepted.

"We have a fairly fresh board now," said acting President Melissa Smith. "The Sundae Social will give everyone a chance to meet and speak with our new members, and we'll also give an update about the theater's status and take questions from the public."

Rekindling the Waldo’s connections with the town and the area is extremely important to the board and crucial for the theater and this is a step in that direction, Smith said, adding, "Post Commander John Blodgett was kind enough to offer the use of the VFW hall to help us in that effort, which we're grateful for."

The Sundae Social is free, but donations will be accepted.

The Waldo Theatre, 916 Main St./Route 220, will open its main lobby to the public during the monthly ArtWalk Waldoboro Saturday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 7. Board members will be on hand to receive visitors. Any artists interested in displaying in the lobby are encouraged to stop by or contact the theater.

For more information or to volunteer, email or find the Waldo on Facebook.
