To support Knox County Recovery Coalition’s efforts to address drug addiction in Knox County, there will be a fundraising dance and auction Friday, Sept. 9, at the Samoset Resort, 22 Warrenton St. Discounted tickets are on sale now via; at the PenBay YMCA in both Rockport and Rockland; and by calling 558-3525.

Advance tickets are $25 until Friday, Sept. 2, then will be sold online for $30. On the day of the event, tickets will be $35 at the Samoset’s State of Maine Exhibit Hall. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

KCRC will celebrate the launching of a revolution to heal the community with this joyful dance and an auction of wonderful artwork, jewelry and many other items. DJ Tom Sadowski will spin classic rock ‘n’ roll, soul, blues and reggae. Auction items include an Eric Hopkins painting, Peter Ralston l photography, "Christina's World" book signed by Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, jewelry by Michael Good, Etienne Perret and Thomas Donovan and more.

Knox County Recovery Coalition, a new organization, has been formed to combat the drug addiction epidemic in Knox County, where: almost 30 percent of babies born are drug affected; every month, a young adult or teen dies due to a drug overdose; more than 10 percent of local teenagers and young adults are currently addicted to opiates, with the average age people become addicted being 15; and most residents cannot find help for their addiction.
