The Center for Maine Contemporary Art, 21 Winter St., invites artists of all ages to create exquisitely simple and strong collaborative works in small artist groupings during the Saturday, Sept. 2, ArtLab for All Ages from 2 to 4 p.m. This month’s event is dubbed Tandem Tangents.

Inspired by the paintings of artist Don Voisine on view in CMCA's main gallery, ArtLab makers will team up to tackle the task of creating everyday scenes using abstraction and peculiar palettes. Participants will explore an immense vocabulary and minimalist design as they co-create compelling collage works.

ArtLab welcomes children, teens, adults and families; and is free of charge and open to all.  The events are led by interdisciplinary artist/educator Alexis Iammarino, who received her master’s degree in community art from Maryland Institute College of Art and is lead artist for the LEAPS of Imagination in-school program. ArtLab is supported in part by the Milton and Sally Avery Art Foundation, the Bob Crewe Foundation, Camden National Bank and individual donors.
