AIR’s First Friday Art Walk for September will take place Friday, Sept. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. Many Arts In Rockland members will be open including CRAFT Gallery, the Farnsworth Art Museum, Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Archipelago, Strand Theatre, Michael Good Gallery, Asymmetrick Arts, Black Hole and Yvette Torres Fine Art, whose acclaimed LaHotan exhibit is open for its final week. The Farnsworth Art Museum will once again open its galleries free of charge to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Friday at the Farnsworth, sponsored by First National Bank. Visitors may enter through the Main Street doors, as well as through the Museum Street lobby and the Museum Store. Classical guitarist Jeff Rojo will perform throughout the evening in the museum’s galleries. The Wyeth Center, on the corner of Union and Grace streets, also will be open. The following First Friday, the last one for the Farnsworth in 2016, will be a Free Community Event Friday, Oct. 7, for the opening of the exhibition “The Art of Disaster.”

Also open First Friday, Sept. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. will be the Maine Coastal Islands Visitor Center, whose art gallery is showcasing work by Leon Vanella of Newcastle, Michael Boardman of North Yarmouth and Janet Glatz of Durham. The Wildlife Refuge center is at 9 Water St. in the South End, just a two-minute walk from Jonathan Frost Gallery.
