Tickets for the 2016 Common Ground Country Fair — the signature event of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association —are on sale at retail outlets throughout Maine and online through brownpapertickets.com. Fairgoers enjoy significant savings by purchasing tickets in advance, as well as being able to go directly to the front of the ticket lines.

Many of the participating advance sale outlets also are selling copies of the 2016 Common Ground Country Fair poster, a radiant illustration of “Rainbow Chard” by longtime MOFGA member Toki Oshima.

This year’s Common Ground Country Fair runs Friday through Sunday, Sept. 23 through 25 at MOFGA's Common Ground Education Center in the town of Unity. Gates will open 9 a.m. each day.

More than 60,000 visitors attend the Common Ground Country Fair, and many purchase their tickets at the gates when they arrive. While the volunteer ticket-sellers and -takers make every effort to move the crowds swiftly through the entrances, the lines can be long. MOFGA encourages those who can purchase their tickets in advance to do so. Midcoast vendors include the Belfast Co-op and The Green Store, Belfast; Good Tern Co-op and Huston-Tuttle, Rockland; Nature's Choice, Camden; Mac's Hardware, Union; and Liberty Graphics.

Tickets are free for MOFGA members, children younger than 13, handicapped citizens and fair volunteers, as well as for Friday school groups. Otherwise, daily admission is $10 advance, $15 at gate for those age 13 to 64; and $8/$10 for older adults. Those who bike to the fairgrounds or take the train from Unity or Thorndike get $2 off. For more information about the fair, call 568-4142; email commonground@mofga.org; or visit mofga.org.
