The Route 17 Ramblers will be playing a Concert on the Lawn Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. at the Rockport Masonic Center, 361 Main St. The Masons offer outside grilling of hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers plus beverage, and sometimes beans, for $7.

The weekly series offers a great outdoor picnic atmosphere, and everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair and be a part of the fun. The concert will be held indoor if it rains; for more information, call Jeff Sukeforth at 691-2270.

The Route 17 Ramblers is a traditional country/early rock music group formed last fall by Anne Danforth of Chelsea on guitar/vocals; Donna Ryder of West Gardner on guitar/vocals; Lise Becu of Port Clyde on fiddle/mandolin/vocals; and Rosey Gerry of Lincolnville on autoharp/banjo/guitar/vocals. Their blended voices make for a good mix for all types of audiences, playing arrangements of traditional country/early rock and little gospel, with a touch of spoken French eased in. The group’s name reflects the many trips back and forth on Route 17 for performances and practices.

The summer series concludes Wednesday, Aug. 31, with local bluegrass trio Miners Creek.
