Rockport residents will see a 3.9 percent increase in their taxes when they receive their tax bills.

Bills are expected to be mailed sometime around Saturday, Aug. 27.

The 2016 tax rate is $14.61 per $1,000 assessed value. This an increase from the 2015 rate of $14.05.

This means a person owning a home valued at $200,000 will see their tax bill increase $112 from last year for a total of $2,922.

Rockport’s overall taxable valuation decreased by $25,763,651 in 2016. The loss in valuation is attributable to the dissolution of the Brewster Point subdivision and the increase in the Homestead Exemption.

Taxpayers will receive one tax bill with the option of making two installments, the first payment is due Oct. 17 and the second payment is due April 17, with a 7 percent interest rate on unpaid taxes.
