Rockport Police are investigating an incident that occurred at the turn out on Chickawaukie Lake in the early morning hours Aug. 19.

Knox County Regional Communications received a suspicious complaint at 3:52 a.m. The caller stated they could hear two people yelling and running up the road, according to information provided by Rockport Interim Chief Randy Gagne.

Officer James Moore arrived on scene and located a male subject in the water. This subject stated he had been accosted by an unknown male and jumped in the water to get away from the suspect.

There were no serious injuries to the victim and no charges have been filed, Gagne said.

The matter is under investigation and no further information will be released as this is an ongoing investigation.

Officer Moore was assisted by Camden and Rockland Police departments and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
