On Saturday, July 16, Rankin’s Hardware and Building Supply on Union Street in Camden held its annual Customer Appreciation Day to say thanks to its customers for supporting a local family owned hardware store.

This event has become an eagerly anticipated event for customers throughout the region. Each year on Customer Appreciation Day, Rankin’s gives each household who stops by $5 worth of merchandise from inside the store. Outside, there is free popcorn, hot dogs, and drinks. Tents and tables were put in place where customers mingled and maybe even shared a few Rankin’s stories.

This year’s event featured P.A.W.S Animal Adoption Center, who was present at the event with information about animal adoption and a display of items for sale to help support the center. Volunteers worked the table throughout the day, and helped sign up pet owners to the “Double Dog Bowl Dare,” a special offer from Purina to sample their exclusive dog food line available at Rankin’s. Donations to P.A.W.S Animal Adoption Center totaled $300.

“It was wonderful to be part of the Rankin’s Customer Appreciation Day event” said P.A.W.S Animal Adoption Center Executive Director Shelly Butler in a news release. “It was a tremendous opportunity to meet many community members, talk about pet adoption, and discuss nutrition and wellness for the pets we love”

Lisa Burgess, a third generation Rankin’s family member and president of the hardware and building supply business said, “We look forward to this event every year, and our customers do, too. It’s our way of showing how much we really appreciate their business.” Burgess continued to say “with our return to the animal feed business and our commitment to supplying quality feed for both pets and farm animals, connecting with P.A.W.S Animal Adoption Center was a natural fit. ”
