There will be a public chowder supper at the Oddfellows Hall, Elementary School Road, Friday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m. to benefit Lorna Hupper Grey and her husband, Ken Grey, of Port Clyde. The couple recently survived a crash that destroyed their truck.

In addition to cash donations for the supper, the organizers of the benefit are seeking dessert donations, with pies being prefered. Leftover desserts will be sold following the meal.

Ken is in the VA hospital in Augusta. When he was first hospitalized, it was discovered that he has serious medical problems not related to the accident. After five surgeries for heart and intestinal problems, he is still on a feeding tube. When he leaves the hospital, there will be ongoing medical expenses not covered by insurance.

The couple are also in need of another vehicle, and friends are hoping to get one donated.

Donations by cash or check will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Lorna Grey. Those who would like to help but cannot come to the supper may mail checks to Marvon Hupper, P.O. Box 225, Port Clyde, ME 04855.
