Eagle Scout Jacob Knowlton, 14, of St. George, cut the ribbon to open his completed Eagle Scout Project, a new nature and history trail on the property of the Marshall Point LIghthouse and Museum in Port Clyde, July 13.. He was joined by Board Chair Diana Bolton, Museum Curator Nat Lyon and other board members.

Knowlton had had a conversation with MPLH board member Mark Bartholomew, who convinced him that it would be a great project for the museum and for him, to complete his Eagle Scout requirements.

The youth did all the planning and research, got the necessary permits, worked with the Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum Board and put the crew together to make it happen. There are eight question-and-answer signs along the trail, all relevant to the lighthouse's past.

Knowlton reflected that he was very pleased that he personally added and gave back something to the community.
