Gardeners Eric and Laura Evans will lead a program on preserving summer fruits and vegetables at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, Aug. 23, at noon.

By the end of summer, many gardeners are faced with more produce than they know what to do with. The Evanses will speak about their prolific garden and orchard, and the common and not-so-common methods for storing summer fruits and vegetables for year-round use.

The Evanses have gardened together for nearly 50 years, almost all of those in Maine. They are regular volunteers at Merryspring, where Laura volunteers through the Maine Daylily Society and Eric through the American Chestnut Foundation.

This lecture is part of the Summer Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by The First. Admission to Tuesday talks is $5, with free admission for members of Merryspring.
