Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will screen the 1987 film “Dirty Dancing,” directed by Emile Ardolino, Thursday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. in the downstairs Friends Community Room.

Starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, this highly acclaimed film takes place in 1963. When "Baby" (Grey) goes off to a summer resort in the Catskills with her conservative family, she finds what she least expected when she meets talented but brooding dance instructor Johnny (Swayze). Attendees are invited to have "the time of your life" and to sing and dance along to the great soundtrack of the film.

This year's Thursday Film Series is hosted by Friends of the Rockland Library. In addition to watching great films, viewers will be able to enter a drawing for books related to the movie's topic or theme donated by the Friend's Book Stop. The screening is free and open to the public. For more information, call 594-0310.
