Maine's Premier Country Show, set for Sunday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m., will highlight eight big days of fun and entertainment at Union Fair. The show has three feature acts: Sharon Hood & Dixon Road; The Chris Fyfe Band; and the Dyer Neck Gang.

Sharon Hood & Dixon Road is a high-energy modern country band from Central Maine. In 2013, it was the Pine Tree State Country Music Band of the Year; and in 2014, Hood was nominated for the New England Music Award for Female Artist of the Year. The band plays everything from Johnny Cash to Carrie Underwood.

Chris Fyfe is a multi-award-winning vocalist, instrumentalist and songwriter with 40 years in the entertainment business. An official Maine Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Maine Country Music Living Legend Award, he also was inducted into the Maine Ole Opry in 2014 and named Male Vocalist of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year by the Maine Academy of Country Music. He is influenced by the likes of Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Bob Willis, Asleep at the Wheel and Floyd Cramer.

Dyer Neck Gang plays the most popular country-rock songs from today's hottest artists, southern rock and classic rock including country rock classics from the past.

This year’s big country show is again sponsored by 97.1 New Country Bear. Runs Saturday to Saturday, Aug. 20 through 27, at the Union Fairgrounds, just off Route 17. For more information and a complete schedule, visit
