“In the Cupboard of the Whale,” a solo exhibition by local artist Annie Bailey, will run Monday through Sunday, Aug. 15 through 21, at Hopkins Wharf Gallery, 7 Hopkins Wharf.  The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

There is an artist’s reception Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. Those from the mainland who would like to attend can call Equinox Island Transit at 236-6890 to reserve a space onboard for a ride back to Rockland, leaving North Haven at 6:30 p.m.

The weeklong exhibit is thematically based on local maritime culture and is richly diverse in media including painting, sculpture and moving image. Included in the show is a 35-foot-long “crankie” ink painting, which depicts the local historic story of the Royal Tar. For more information about the artist, visit anniebaileyart.com.

This show is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
