Fire Dept. to hold annual pig roast Aug. 14

The Waldoboro Fire Department will hold its annual pig roast Sunday, Aug. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu includes barbecued pork, coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, hotdogs and watermelon. Proceeds will benefit  the Waldoboro Public Library, Waldoboro Firemen’s Association, and the Soule/Shuman VFW Post 4525. The cost is $10 for adults; $7 for 12 years and younger. Shelter to hold grand opening for new facility Aug. 20

The Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, 25 Buttermilk Lane, Thomaston, will open its new facility to the public in ceremonies Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting, followed by live music, tours of the new shelter and refreshments. All are welcome.
