Quarry Hill, named by Hannaford Stores as beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps reusable-bag program in April, May, and June at its Rockland location, will continue as the program’s beneficiary through Aug. 31 at the company’s Camden store.

Hannaford’s Bags4MyCause initiative is designed to provide a helping hand to local nonprofits. The company’s selection of Quarry Hill means that for every blue Hannaford Helps reusable shopping bag purchased through August at the Camden Hannaford, Quarry Hill will receive a $1 donation to help it fulfill its mission of caring for adults age 55-plus.

“We feel honored to have been chosen for Bags4MyCause,” said Quarry Hill executive director Mary Sargent. “Throughout its almost 14-year history as a nonprofit community organization, Quarry Hill has remained a values-driven, people-first enterprise, and our commitment to older adults throughout the Midcoast is woven into everything we do. We’re grateful to Hannaford for extending for another month its recognition and support for our efforts.”

Sargent said funds raised through the initiative will benefit Quarry Hill’s Resident Activities Fund, which promotes residents’ overall well-being by providing access to a variety of social and educational programs.

Hannaford Helps reusable shopping bags are imprinted with the initiative’s “good karma” message and sell for $2.29 each. They can be found at the Camden store’s reusable-bag rack and at registers at the front of the store.

Quarry Hill offers a full spectrum of living options for people age 55 plus. It includes independent living cottages and apartments, assisted living, secure assisted living for those with memory impairment, short-term nursing and rehabilitation, and long-term nursing care.
