Philippe Guillerm and Samuel Morgan join together to offer their latest “Views from Over and Under” at the Philippe Guillerm Gallery, 882 Main St. in the village. The opening reception is set for Waldoboro’s Second Saturday ArtWalk Aug. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., in conjunction with Tidemark and Heywood galleries.

The show offers a collection of underwater, sky and creatures of the blue world. Guillerm, a native of Paris, France, is an acclaimed international artist who treasures his moments under water. An avid diver during his winter sailings, Guillerm brings the sense of peace and silence of that calm world to his paintings.

Morgan, who won’t be nailed down to a place of birth and lives in Maine for now, comes to painting later in life, as a retiree. It might seem a huge departure from his career in landscaping, but he feels the common thread is a love of color.

“Choosing colors for the image on a canvas is not so different from creating a visually pleasing garden,” he said.

The contemporary art Philippe Guillerm Gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit guillermsculptures.com.
