Kathryn Avery will present an overview drawn from her new book, “Your Countdown to Retirement,” Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. in order to start the conversation about preparing for the coming Baby Boomer Age Wave.

From now until 2030, 10,000 Baby Boomers will reach the traditional retirement age of 65 each day. As they contemplate stopping work, they face a myriad of emotional concerns and non-financial consideration. To avoid unforeseen and often volatile issues affecting every aspect of the Post-Employment Phase of Life (PEPOL), they need well-thought out strategies.

“Surprisingly,” said Avery, “it can take as long as two years to develop and implement a successful plan!”

An unprecedented, social shockwave is about to hit the country as 76 million Baby Boomers reach retirement age and leave the workforce; and virtually every aspect of life in the United States will be affected by this dramatic shift in national demographics. In her book, Avery offers practical, realistic pointers for Boomers to avoid a retirement meltdown.
