Bay Chamber Concerts Summer Concert Series enters its fifth week with a Diversions and Serenades program performed by Palaver Strings Thursday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St.

A Bay Chamber favorite, Palaver Strings is a musician-led string orchestra formed in 2014 by a group of young musicians from the Boston area dedicated to the collaborative interpretation of masterworks. Each member of the ensemble is passionate about taking classical music beyond the concert hall to engage with diverse and new audiences. They will perform works by Mozart, Elgar and Bartók.

Tickets for Diversions and Serenades are $45, $10 for those younger than 25. The Thursday Night Series is sponsored by Viking Lumber; and the Palaver performance is sponsored by Robin and Kathie Ledwith in memory of longtime Bay Chamber patron Enid Stone.

Friday, Aug. 12, at 4 p.m., Bay Chamber Music School presents another free event through its Envision program. Envision: A Young People’s Chamber Music Workshop is an intense, weeklong program offering young musicians the opportunity to study chamber music under the direction of professional musicians. Students receive coaching from Sophie and Josie Davis, Maya French, Nate Martin and Colin Wheatley, with additional master classes and workshops offered by Anna French and Palaver Strings. The culmination of this year’s inaugural program is a free performance at Union Hall, 24 Union St., to celebrate the young participants and their coaches. Refreshments will be served.

Later that evening, 8:30 p.m. at Union Hall, Bay Chamber Concerts presents a bracing, all-British program performed by Palaver Strings with guests Josie and Sophie Davis, violins; and Colin Wheatley, viola. On the program, Britten’s Simple Symphony contains the irresistible charm of youth projected as an array of musical colors that perfectly illuminates both the innocence and sophistication that this group brings to their audiences.

Tickets for Café Nights at Union Hall this week are $35, $10 younger than 25. The Café Nights Series at Union Hall is sponsored by Mazie Cox and Brinkley Thorne of Rockport and underwritten by Macy’s.
