The Maine Lobster Festival is underway, running through Sunday, Aug. 7, in Harbor Park. Music is a big part of the annual event, with two areas devoted to performances: the main stage, on the central Fisherman’s Memorial; and the North Entertainment Tent, just off the Park street entrance to the festival. In addition, there is strolling entertainer Michael Trautman, a physical comedian who will add laughs to the first two days of the fest.

Special evening main stage concerts are offered Thursday, Aug. 4, through Sunday. Thursday is Maine Music Day and its evening concert is included with festival admission. The main stage show starts 6:30 p.m. with the Maine Marimba Ensemble, followed by opener Lula Wiles at 7:45 p.m. and returning festival favorites The Mallett Brothers Band, taking the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Country hitmakers Diamond Rio will take the festival’s main stage Friday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 p.m., with an opening set by up-and-coming star Courtney Cole. Six-time Vocal Group of the Year Diamond Rio has had a string of hits (“One More Day,” “Love a Little Stronger,” “Meet in the Middle”) and sold more than 10 million albums including three platinum, five gold records and 13 Grammy nominations.

On Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. the Maine Lobster Festival will present Smash Mouth with special guest Kris Rogers and The Dirty Gems. Smash Mouth made a big splash with “I’m a Believer” from the movie “Shrek,” but the band’s hits “Then The Morning Comes,” “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” and the Top 10 “All Star” solidified its double-platinum status. Smash Mouth has a reputation for shows that shine with music, but also serve up plenty of fun.

Tickets for seats in a reserved section directly in front of the stage at either Friday or Saturday show are $25, available at the Main Street gate or online at mainelobsterfestival.com; they include festival admission.

And speaking of general admission, Wednesday’s is $5, $2 for age 6 to 12 and free younger, Thursday’s is $8/$2/free; Friday and Saturday are $10/$2/free; and Sunday, Hometown and Family Fun Day, has free admission for all. Four-packs of one-day adult admission tickets are available at the front gate for $30. Bracelet ($15) days for carnival rides are Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
