Pen Bay Medical Center has welcomed Dr. Nir Harish, MBA as an emergency room physician. Harish joined the PBMC staff after completing a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholarship at Yale University, where he studied the economics of acute care and alternative business models for health care delivery.

Harish completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Denver Health Medical Center and University of Colorado Hospital, where he also served as a chief resident. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, and an MD/MBA from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School, where he studied health care systems and operations.

He has previously consulted on process improvement for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, directed a national patient safety education collaborative, worked in business development for a medical device company and participated in emergency department redesign at two academic medical centers. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine.

Harish and his wife, Molly, who works at Pen Bay Diabetes & Nutrition Care Center as a diabetes educator, have always wanted to live in the Midcoast and look forward to exploring all the region has to offer.
