The Art Loft, 385 Main St./Suite 9, will host instructors from Coastal Maine Art workshops during August. Pizza & Painters: Meet the Artist gatherings will be held three Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., each night with a discussion and demonstration the artist. Suggested donation is $15 to $20 and space is limited, so early arrival is encouraged.

On Aug. 11, Frank Eber AWS NWS, a skilled impressionistic watercolorist and new instructor with Coastal Maine Art Workshops, will be featured. Eber will do a demo and lecture, revealing the techniques that result in his luminous paintings with great variety of texture.

On Aug. 18, Mike Bailey NWS, a dynamic and popular California painter and new instructor with Coastal Maine Art Workshops, will be featured. Bailey will do a demo and lecture, showing his strong handling of color and forms; and will talk about the challenges and payoffs of plein air painting.

On Aug. 25, the series will welcome David P. Curtis, a much-loved Cape Ann oil painter and frequent instructor with Coastal Maine Art Workshops. Curtis will execute a painting, demonstrating his mastery of value and color, and will talk about why he believes you have to be able to “see” before you can paint.
