Björn Runquist will have his annual open studio show Friday through Sunday, Aug. 12 through 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Ocean View Grange, 435 Port Clyde Road/Route 131. There will be an evening reception Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

This year’s show again features paintings done mostly in the past 12e months and includes Maine scenes, as well as scenes from travels here and abroad. Life as a full-time Maine resident in daily engagement with the different seasons, the islands, sea and the working waterfront continues to inspire Runquist. The show also will feature watercolors from Maine and abroad, as well as some drawings from the schooner J&E Riggins.

Runquist’s also can be seen at Landing Gallery in Rockland; and he was showcased in the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust Paint Out. His paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections, including the Farnsworth Art Museum, and he was highlighted in the “Canvas” section of Maine Home + Design. Runquist’s work has been included in the State Department’s Art in Embassies program for the last 10 years and can be seen online at

The Ocean View Grange is located a mile from the center of Port Clyde, on the right hand side of the road heading south on Route 131. Note that some small posters were distributed that have the wrong dates, from last year; the large posters are correct.
