Linda Packard is guest artist for the month of August at the Barb Jackson Gallery, Central Street in the village.

A native of central Massachusetts, Packard has lived in Maine for more than 30 years. Packard was a printmaker for many years, exhibiting in the greater Boston area during the 1970s. In recent years, she studied with the late master painter, Jon Imber, of Boston and Stonington. Packard's work was featured in a solo show at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens last year; and she was a 2015 recipient of the Heliker-LaHotan Residency Fellowship. This June, her work was included in the juried exhibition, “The Retrieval of the Beautiful,” at The Painting Center in Manhattan.

Direct observation en plein air is how the artist most likes to work, she said. Her work is represented by Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth, Maine. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
