Cushing Library book sale set for Aug. 6

The annual Cushing Library Book Sale will be held at the library on Cross Street Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The books have been donated by the greater Cushing community. Includes mysteries, books on history, boating, Maine, art and decorating, novels and children's books.

South Thomaston church to hold lobster feed Aug. 10

The Peoples United Methodist Church, 13 Chapel St., South Thomaston, holds its fourth annual lobster supper Aug.10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Meal includes a 1.25-pound lobster, corn, rolls, chips, dessert and beverage for $15 per person.

Library marks the end of its summer reading program Aug. 13

The Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., holds the grand final event of the 2016 summer reading program, “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” Saturday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. Families will be entertained by Josh Alves, cartoonist, illustrator and comedian. Following the performance, participants of the children’s summer reading program will receive their rewards for great summer reading, and have opportunity to enjoy ice cream sundaes. Some of the prizes will be bicycles donated by the Knox 189 Masonic Lodge.
