“Cinderella,” a ballet of the beloved fairytale, will be performed Friday, Aug. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Camden-Rockport Middle School, 34 Knowlton St. It is presented by the Atlantic Ballet Company of P2P Dance Center.

Dancers training in P2P Dance Studios in Waldoboro, Rockport, Camden and Belfast have congregated to train in the Dance Your Dream summer program. Both male and female dancers are involved and numerous dances involve partnering, such as the grand pas de deux of Cinderella and the Prince, as well as the guests dancing at the Palace Ball.

This fun-filled production is designed for children and adult audiences of all ages. Atlantic Ballet Company has created this modern ballet as a family-viewing-length program. The familiar tale is told, with clever additions such as a Dance Teacher attempting the impossible task of teaching the stepsisters the rudiments of dancing in preparation for the ball. Cinderella’s kindness to a beggar woman leads to the appearance of her Fairy Godmother. The first act leads up to the prince’s ball, which opens the second act.

Dancers in the show come from Waldoboro, Warren, Rockland, Vassalboro, Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville and Belfast. Tickets are $12, available at Planet Toys in Camden or at the door.
