Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main St./Route 220, has added a new Meet the Orchestra event to its summer program lineup for kids Thursday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m.

After reading a story about an orchestra, children will be treated to a live demonstration of some orchestral instruments and have an opportunity to try playing them. Local musician Carol Preston of Damariscotta will present this fun way to explore the world of classical music.

Preston is a violinist with 30 years of experience teaching violin and serving as concertmaster of orchestras in Maine and the Washington, D.C., area. She recently concluded a career as a public school music teacher, where she taught grades K-8.

This program is geared toward children age 4 to 8 and is open to the public. For more information, call the library at 832-4484 or visit waldoborolibrary.org.
