Arts In Rockland holds its midsummer First Friday Art Walk Friday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. Many AIR members will be open, and a number are opening new shows. Both the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and Farnsworth Art Museum offer free admission during the art walk.

The Caldbeck Gallery on Elm Street will hold a reception for already-open solo shows by Lois Dodd, Alan Bray, Todd Watts and Kayla Mohammadi.

At the Art Loft, in the Thorndike building, Chuck Paine will demonstrate oil painting from 5 to 8 p.m. Paine teaches a walk-in class at the Art Loft Tuesday evenings; his work consists of coastal imagery, sailing and Maine life.

Farnsworth Art Museum opens its galleries free of charge to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Friday at the Farnsworth, sponsored by First National Bank. Visitors may enter through our Main Street doors, as well as through the Museum Street lobby and the Museum Store. The Wyeth Center, on the corner of Union and Grace Streets, also will be open. Upcoming First Friday at the Farnsworth are Sept. 7 and Oct. 7.
