The Texas Flying Legends, aerobatic legend Julie Clark, assorted World War II warbirds and aerobatic performances will headline the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s Wings and Wheels Spectacular Saturday, Aug. 6, and Sunday, Aug. 7. Affectionately known as “The Rally,” the Wings and Wheels Spectacular is the museum’s longest-running special event.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday; exhibitor gates open at 8 a.m. The Owls Head Transportation Museum will observe standard closing time, remaining open until 5 p.m. both days of the show. Owners of all pre-1996 vehicles and organized auto clubs are invited to exhibit at the Wings and Wheels Spectacular and all other museum (non-auction) events at no charge. Clubs are encouraged to call ahead to arrange parking. Exhibitors and one guest are admitted free.

The aerobatic airshow and World War II Warbird demonstrations will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, and pre-1940 aeroplanes from the museum’s flying collection will be demonstrated in the morning prior to the performances by guest aircraft. All flying is weather permitting. Following the conclusion of the aerobatic and World War II Warbird performances, an open flightline will commence, allowing visitors to see the aircraft up close, visit with the pilots and take advantage of photo opportunities.

In addition to the large display of assorted classic, vintage and antique vehicles on Runway 17, an array of family activities offered throughout the weekend will include demonstrations of ground vehicles from the museum’s collection, free Model T rides, and the museum’s popular kid’s pedal car corral. On Sunday, Aug. 7, the Darling’s Ice Cream Truck for a Cause will be on site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Darling’s will be serving up tasty frozen treats on a donation basis, all donations collected will directly benefit the museum. Concessions catered by French and Brawn Catering and Marketplace will also be available for purchase throughout the weekend.
