Rock City is part of Rockland’s First Friday Art Walk this month. From 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 5, art walkers are invited to enjoy paintings by Justin Wheeler, local artist and owner of Siren Song Tattoo, at Rock City Coffee Roasters, 252 Main St./Route 73. The roastery will host the artist and offer snacks and coffee samples from 4 to 6 p.m.

A couple of blocks down Main Street, Rock City Café, 316 Main St., will present singer/songwriter Emily Barnes from 7 to 9 p.m. Now a nationally touring artist, Barnes continues to build a grassroots following from city to small town, one new believer at a time. Like the house she sometimes rests her head in — in a town so small it doesn’t show up on some maps — Barnes is an old soul and her live performances stand the test of time. Her debut album, “Beautiful Goodbyes,” was released in January 2014; her duo album “Closer to Home” came out last year; and her highly anticipated follow-up solo album is due this fall.

Food is available until closing. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or find it on Facebook.
